Wheelchair User Wins Suit Over Insult

A wheelchair user from the UK, Brian Davies, heard his boss refer to him by the name "Ironside". Ironside was a 70s television program about a wheelchair using police detective.

Mr Davies felt that the comment was derogetory and took his boss and the company he worked for to court. The court agreed with Mr Davies and awarded him GBP 6,000 (nearly $10,000).

Ironside and cripple are common insults for wheelchair users. Mr Davies had heard such insults in his childhood and felt that this was not something adults should do. Personally, I agree with Mr. Davies and congratulate him on his success.
